Dr. Gary Brummet has been a veterinary medicine practitioner since 1981, when he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to this, he earned his Bachelors degree in Animal and Veterinary Science from the University of Maine in 1976. Before becoming co-owner of A & E Animal Hospital in 1984, he practiced in both Placentia, California and Bloomington, Illinois. Dr. Brummet stays connected with the University of Illinois by serving annually on the interview panel for future veterinary students, as well as being involved in the ISVMA/CVM Mentor Program. He is also an adjunct professor at the college, lecturing on veterinary ethics to first year veterinary students.
Dr. Brummet occasionally performs surgical procedures for the Champaign County Humane Society and also volunteers his time and surgical experience at their annual Spay Day. He serves on the foundation committee at Cunningham Children's Home, and has been a member of the Kiwanis Club for over twenty years. Dr. Brummet and Dr. Juhl are co-owners of A & E Animal Hospital and have been married for over 25 years.
In April, Dr. Brummet attended the Central Veterinary Convention in Baltimore, where he attended lectures on topics such as feline hyperthyroidism and pancreatitis, as well as insulin choices for feline patients and surgical repair of medial patellar luxations in dogs. More recently, he participated in a webcast CE event that covered feline renal insufficiency, chronic vomiting and diarrhea in cats, and the surgical repair of canine cranial cruciate ligament rupture. He has also recently become an active member in the American Veterinary Dental Society. Back
