Meet Our Staff
Lindsay Vahling, D.V.M. is the owner of A & E Animal Hospital. Originally from Buffalo Grove, IL, she moved to the Champaign-Urbana area to attend the University of Illinois for both her Bachelor's and Veterinary degrees. While in school, she worked for A & E Animal Hospital as an assistant. After graduating in May 2014, she returned to the hospital as an associate veterinarian and purchased the hospital in 2017. Her areas of interest include radiology and surgery. Outside of work she enjoys spending time outdoors working with her husband Bruce on home projects, pampering her cat Pinot and their ducks, and traveling, especially to da U.P.!
Amy L. McGuffin, D.V.M. is an associate veterinarian, and has been in practice at the hospital since June 2006. Dr. McGuffin graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2006. Originally from Highland, Illinois, she moved to the Champaign-Urbana area after graduation to be closer to home, and to start practicing at A & E Animal Hospital. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Eastern Illinois Veterinary Medical Association and the Illinois State Medical Association. Much of her free time is spent enjoying time with her husband, young son and daughter, as well as their guinea pig Olaf, their two ferrets Leila and Trooper, and their two cats Savannah and Sweet Pea.
Laura Maher, D.V.M. is an associate veterinarian and has been at A & E Animal Hospital since June 2021. Dr. Maher is from Morton, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois for both her Bachelor's and Veterinary degrees. Professionally she is very interested in radiology, reproduction, and preventative health. She lives with her husband, Will, and their two young children at their organic family farm. The farm keeps them very busy with specialty grains, cows, chickens, Hank (the family dog), the occasional pig and horse, and many outside cats. They love to go hiking, camping, snowshoeing, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, and kayaking as a family.
Angela Cross, C.V.T. is a Certified Veterinary Technician. Angela began working at A & E in 2019. She graduated from Parkland College's Veterinary Technician program in 2008. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, and her at home "zoo".
Stephani Spry, C.V.T is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She is from Buckley, IL. Stephani began working at A & E Animal Hospital in 2019. She graduated from Parkland College's Veterinary Technician Program in 2020. When she has free time she likes to read, cook, and do puzzles. She is obsessed with black cats. She has three cats named Kiddy, Duki and Lola. Stephani loves animals and has a passion for this field.
Laurel Rucker is a Receptionist. Laurel began working at A & E in 2018. She grew up in California as an only child with a veterinarian for a mom, therefore she has always had a love for animals and a need to be around them. When she is not at work, she is at home spending time with her 3 kids. They enjoy playing outside, cooking and visiting family and friends.
Renee' Douglas is a Receptionist. She has been with A & E since October 2020. She is from Tuscola, Illinois. She hopes to attend vet school in the future. She is currently a student at Parkland College. Renee' has a dog named Quincey and a cat named Honey. In her free time she likes to travel, spend time with friends and family, and watch documentaries.
Adriana Del Pino is a Veterinary Assistant. She has been with A & E since August of 2019. She is an undergrad senior at the University of Illinois studying Animal Sciences, and she plans to apply to the University of Illinois vet school to become an exotic animal vet. She has 2 dogs, Dio and Arthas, a cat Argo, and a few reptiles as well as hermit crabs. In her spare time, Adriana loves playing video games and taking care of her plants. She hopes to one day work with exotics all around the world.
Brianna Huff is a Veterinary Assistant. Brianna began working at A & E in 2019. She is currently attending the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in order to obtain her DVM degree. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, working with service dogs in training, assisting with wildlife rehabilitation, and spending time with her family, friends and beloved pets, especially her chinchilla Angel, her bird Gado, and her dog, Champ.
Khaylan Foy is a Veterinary Assistant. He joined the staff at A & E in 2020. He graduated from Jackson State University in May of 2019, where he obtained his biology degree with a concentration in Veterinary Medicine. Ultimately, he wants to become a veterinarian, and is currently applying to enter vet school for the fall of 2022 semester. Outside of work he enjoys traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.
Taylor Kunath is a Veterinary Assistant. She began working at A & E in October 2020. She recently graduated from the University of Illinois with her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences. Taylor plans to apply for vet school this upcoming fall to become a zoo and/or exotic veterinarian. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her dog, Bailey!
Justin Huff is a Veterinary Assistant. He began working at A & E in 2020. He is currently studying Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois and hopes to attend veterinary school following the completion of his Bachelor’s Degree. Justin grew up on a small farm in Southern Illinois, and enjoys working with animals of all sizes, but really enjoys being in the presence of cattle. Currently, Justin is not able to keep cows in his apartment, but his corgi Bonnie keeps him company.
Jeff Delmore is a Veterinary Assistant. He began working at A & E in 2021. He is a Junior currently studying Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois with intentions of becoming a veterinarian. Jeff is hoping to adopt a pet, but is not yet sure if he is a dog or a cat person! In his spare time he loves playing soccer, video games, and spending time with family.
Nakya Ferrell is a Veterinary Assistant. She began working at A & E in 2021. She is a 2021 UIUC Animal Sciences Graduate with the long-term goal of continuing higher education at the U of I to obtain her DVM, specializing in Companion Animal Science. Her aspiration is to own and operate her own line of private veterinary practices through which she aims to elevate client and patient care. When she is not working, Nakya serves as a leader in a UIUC Christian Ministry - ALIVE. She also participates in several creative outlets as a poet, painter, and photographer.
Jillian Yerly is a Veterinary Assistant. She began working at A & E in November of 2021. She is originally from Morton, IL, and moved to the Champaign-Urbana area in 2019 to attend Parkland College. Jillian greatly enjoys working with clients and patients, and plans to study to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.
